The 10.5" Burly Slammers (made for Sportsters) and 11.5" Progressives are a good choice for the XS650 Brat conversion for a few reasons. They are essentially bolt-in with minor modification required. They are well performing and reputable shocks if you're trying to get lowww (Burly Slammers are the only shock that will get you down to 10.5"). Lastly, there are a good amount of used shocks available if you decide that new isn't essential. Just make sure you get the factory sleeves!

In order to run them you need an additional sleeve so the mounting bolts of your XS650 will fit in the eye of the shock.

I am offering a kit to adapt the Burly Slammer Sportster shocks or Progressive Sportster shocks to your XS650 brat kit project, or any metric bike where the shock mounting bolts are ~10mm (M10) in diameter.

The kit includes:
2 x class 10.9 M10 x 55mm bolts (for top shock mount on Visual Impact Brat Kit)
2 x steel washers
2 x steel serrated flanged nuts
2 x stainless sleeves cut to fit top mount of Visual Impact Brat Kit
2 x stainless sleeves cut to fit stock XS650 swing arm shock mount

PLEASE NOTE BURLY SHOCKS ARE 10 1/2 INCHES EYE TO EYE  YOU MUST CHECK AND RECHECK ALL CLEARANCES FROM FENDER TO SEAT AND TIRE TO FENDER ETC.... WHEN YOU MOCK UP PAY ATTENTION TO ALL CLEARANCE
The Burly Slammer's come with two flanged sleeves. You will run the top sleeve as is, but you must remove the flange from the bottom sleeve so it will fit in the stock swingarm mounts.

2.) Even with the flange removed, you will need to spread the stock swingarm mount out a few mm like so.

Once you do that the bottom shock eye will slide in (with the sleeves in place), then use the stock bolt to fasten it.

.) For the top, just slide the sleeves in place and fasten it with the provided hardware to the Visual Impact Brat Kit. You can put the flange of the Burly sleeve on the left or right, whichever side you need spacing on.

Progressive shocks come with many different sleeve sizes. In some cases you will need to remove the shoulder on some of these sleeves as well to fit the kit. Buying used shocks....be sure to get the stock harley sleeves and this kit will adapt right to the stock harley sleeves. The top sleeve will need the shoulder removed and you can use this shoulder to shim the other side between the shock mounts.
